By Andy McClure (Whitney's Dad) When describing someone a few words are never enough… ever for someone who lives a mundane life of no hobbies, interests or dreams. So when you have someone that LOVES so much and so many, a novel is not enough space. Let’s try to capture Whitney Lee in a few of paragraphs… Whitney was a talker, conversationalist from day one… she may not have walked until 14 months old…she was talking in sentences before she consumed her first birthday cake! She could talk about anything… Pop Culture, politics, sports, cooking, friends and family, sports, decorating, the Denver Broncos and AZ Diamondbacks… and fantasy sports. She was one to engage a teacher in a conversation at the end of a class period, so the teacher would run out of time and not assign homework! Whitney was a friend’s friend. She made everyone feel comfortable during an event she was attending. She learned to bring people out of their shell by engaging them in a conversation about their favorite subject…themselves. When home from college or post-college she would meet up with old friends over lunch or coffee… never breakfast, WAY too early! She loved jewelry… expensive and costume. Bracelets, earrings, necklaces… she had it all. She also loved to gift jewelry…just cuz or to brighten the day of someone who was feeling down.Whit had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Leading a small group Bible study in college, participating in worship and serving other less fortunate, in the name of Jesus Christ! After moving back to Colorado, she and Geoff had joined a small group Bible study at church. Whitney Lee loved her family most. Being home while away to college and coming home for the holidays once she was married. Whit and her mom spoke on the phone almost daily and she kept a running text dialog going with her two sisters for years. She enjoyed grocery shopping with her dad. There were those special times with her local cousins and those in other parts of the US. Her maternal grandparents always played a big part of her life…even up to their death. Whitney Lee was a lot of things to a lot of people. Today they might consider her their angel. Sadly Whitney no longer walks this earth, she is in Heaven with her grandparents and Jesus. On Aug 20, 2018, Whitney woefully breathed her last breath in the early morning hours. After months of research through the local coroner, Colorado Department of Health and Center for Disease Control it was ruled that she died of acute pneumonia as a result of E.coli bacterial infection. No one saw it coming. It struck quick. Her entire family was shocked and they are still trying to reconcile how a young women with such a vibrant, giving personality could pass so quickly. Prayer, counseling and fellowship with family and friends is helping. Every few weeks you will find in this space a blog about Whitney and how she continues to inspire and direct those in her close and distant circles. Tonight hug your kids or grandkids a little tighter and longer…and understand what a blessing they are. Be blessed!!
