Whitney's LegacyOn August 20, 2018 our family tragically and suddenly lost one of the most precious gifts in our daughter, sister, wife, and friend, Whitney Lee McClure Etter.
Whitney embraced the fullness of life. She loved people with all of her heart and was fiercely loyal to those closest to her. She desired to see the world a better place and was quick to shower kindness, love, and joy on those around her. She did not come without some fire and sass, but she always used her strong will to fight for what was right and speak up for others. This blog is our feeble attempt to embody the love of Whitney now. These are our stories, our heart, our laughs, our tears, and our memories. Thank you for joining us here. |
Honor Whitney Through Giving
Education mattered deeply to Whitney. After finishing high school and her undergraduate degree, Whitney earned a master's of arts in education from Grand Canyon University. This is why we hope to enable more student learning and development through her legacy now. We are in the process of setting up funds through every one of these options in Whitney's name, but in the meantime, we highly encourage you to invest in their missions. They changed Whitney's life and all of ours for the better.

COLLEGIATE CROSSINGSAfter graduating from college, Whitney wrote the original white sheet to start this Colorado nonprofit, designed to empower first-generation and low-income students pursue their goals in post secondary education. In 2018, she came home to join her family on staff.

WHITWORTH UNIVERSITYNobody was a prouder Whitworth alumna than Whitney. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in psychology. More importantly, it was at Whitworth that Whitney met the love of her life, Geoff, and many of her closest friends.

PEAK TO PEAK CHARTER SCHOOLWhitney graduated from Peak to Peak in 2008 and was always grateful for the world class education she received. She was a star on the debate team and kept in close contact with friends and staff from Peak to Peak her entire life.

ST. VRAIN EDUCATION FOUNDATIONWhitney grew up in and around the St. Vrain Valley school district and had a heart for students in need. She never wanted money to be the reason a student could not achieve their educational goals.
